The aim of the course is to provide students with an insight into the relationship and interaction of language, discourse and society. Also, the aim of the course is to enable students to understand the types of language stratification, language uses and functions in different social contexts. Students will be able to analyse different discourses, primarily from a rhetorical and linguistic-stylistic point of view.

Seminars thematically follow the lectures.
Students are required to:
- actively, regularly and constructively participate in classes (students are required to attend a minimum of 80% of lectures and 80% of seminars)
- respect the ethical and scientific principles of the higher education institution
- conduct a research and present it in a seminar paper
- pass a written exam in the form of an essay and an oral one in the case of indefinite grade
- to be informed about the classes he / she missed with other students or in consultations with the professor
Considering the learning outcomes and students' obligations, the final grade is based on the following elements:
- essay written - 70%
- presentation and written seminar . 30%
- passed oral exam - 0% or more (depending on the student's wishes)
