The  14th ICFE 2022 - Conference in the Field of Education: Educational Reforms: The Role of Policy and Educational Research  took place June 2-3, 2022, at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split, which was this year's host institution. Numerous researchers from various European, as well as Croatian top four universities attended the conference. They discussed various topics in the field of education, providing participants with networking possibilities and a platform to share results of their research. This conference's peculiarity lies in the fact that it has no permanent head institution which organizes the annual meetings. Instead of this traditional model, the organization of ICFE shifts between different higher education institutions in Europe. This year our Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split accepted the invitation to host this significant conference, which featured excellent keynote speakers: Dr. Ivana Batarelo Kokić (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Split), Dr. Anna Babicka-Wirkus (The Institute of Pedagogy at Pomeranian University in Słupsk, Poland), and Dr. Werner Bigell (University of Tromsø - The Arctic University of Norway, Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education).  In addition to plenary lectures and individual sessions, participants also took place in a guided city tour organized by the Tourist Board of the City of Split. In the final part of the conference, the Faculty Department of Pre-school Education organized an exhibition of stage puppets, titled  "Javanese Puppet Theatre".  The exhibition was prepared under the mentorship of associate professor Marijana Županić Benić (the Faculty of Teacher Education in Zagreb), as part of the course  Artistic Dramaturgy and the Technology of Puppetry. Promotion of the book written by Ivo Banac, Ph.D., entitled Seventy-First: The Rise and Fall of the Croatian National Reform Movement (Croatian State Archives, Zagreb, 2021) will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 12.00 on the ground floor of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split, Poljička cesta 35. The following speakers will talk about the book: Aleksandar Jakir, Ph.D., Full Professor, Mladenko Domazet, Ph.D., Associate Professor and  Andrea Feldman, Ph.D., Associate Professor. Josip Vrandečić, Ph.D., Full Professor will lead the program. The book by Croatian and American professor Ivo Banac about the Croatian Spring represents his last work, which, unfortunately, due to the author's untimely death, remained unfinished. Although three of the imaginary eight chapters have been completed, the book as such is worth the entire library. In the book, the author incorporates his youthful memories of the events he directly witnessed as a Fulbright Scholar in Zagreb, his lifelong involvement in the communist movement and his full scientific maturity and strength emanating from its pages. He pointed out in the introduction that the book was not written only for our time and that every writing about the seventy-first is also an invitation to think about how much the accumulations of the communist regime are still present in our society. It is mentally complete, because it perceives historical phenomena from the perspective of the social elite; in this case: Tito, Croatian reform communists, the student movement and international politics. The completed parts were written on the basis of first-class sources from the Cabinet of the President of Yugoslavia and the party legacy from the Croatian State Archives. One of the main thesis is that the Croatian Spring is the base without which a reflection on independence would not be possible. Although unfinished, it offers a model of how to write a historiographical work and represents the author's will to the Croatian people.

However, only a small part of kindergartens use educational strategies and methods of work that have a preventive character. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split is the publisher of a monograph titled Toponimija otoka bivšega života – Svetac i Šćedro , authored by professsor emeritus Joško Božanić and full professor Marina Marasović Alujević. The monograph is illustrated with photographs by Ivo Pervan, Boris Kragić, Dinko Božanić, and Marina Marasović Alujević. The title of the monograph points to a central issue: the desolation of these small islands, slowly disappearing from the collective memory and toponymy. For centuries, these islands stood as orientation points in space and time, but with no human trace today, they have become a tabula rasa , without traces of former life preserved in the names of localities. The scholarly efforts of our two renowned professors have resulted in this incredibly valuable book, in which they preserved for generations to come the insular onomastic heritage as well as collective memory that these names evoke. The authors found buried linguistic treasures on the islands of Svetac and Šćedro - forgotten words and names that unlock stories about these islands, now deserted but once full of life.

Matica hrvatska has published a book Andrić and Krleža: Poetics and Politic,  by prof. Boris Škvorc. This scholarly work addresses interpretation of literary works of two great writers and initiates a complex theoretical apparatus based on the ideas of the world's leading theorists of literature and culture. Through the discussions on Andrić and Krleža, on a theoretical and historical-ideological level, almost all of the current global problems are addressed, beyond the local perspective and the exclusivity of limited identification. Debates about two writers become a good example of the possibility of identifying important issues of today, that is, thinking about the possibilities and limits of literary research and humanities.
